Girlan - Vernatsch Gschleier Old vines
"Gschleier" is certainly one of the most famous wine-growing areas in South Tyrol. The vines are in fact between 80 and 110 years old, a uniqueness in South Tyrolean viticulture. They grow at 450 m above sea level on soils of calcareous, loamy and gravelly texture The location and exposure of the slope guarantees optimal solar radiation, which together with the properties of the soil produce a full-bodied wine with a longer shelf life.
The grapes are picked by hand and delivered in small containers. After destemming, the mash is poured into steel barrels by gravity, where fermentation takes place (15-20 days). After malolactic fermentation takes place for 9 months in large wooden barrels. The wine is stored in the bottle for a further 6 months.
A unique Vernatsch! Elegant, full-bodied with fruity tannins, accompanied by an excellent taste. Wine with an exceptional aging potential. With these characteristics, Gschleier Alte Reben Vernatsch simply fits in with “good cuisine”.
Goes particularly well with roasts, game and spicy Italian cheeses.
