A soft, round and captivating taste. These are the characteristics of Anfora, a grappa with the characteristics of traditional aging in wood, but with the peculiarity that its rest did not take place in barrels, but in amphorae made of clay. A new technology which uses one of the most ancient containers of mankind, terracotta vessels, advantageous for the transport and storage of wine, oil, honey and other foods.
The amphorae selected by us are a mixture of clay and loam. Materials originating from Montelupo and Impruneta. Locations of Tuscany area which were already known in the Middle Ages for the handicraft production of ceramics and pottery. An innovative technique for distillates that was worth a try and also delivered excellent results: a minute supply of oxygen, twice that in the barrels, which enriched the grappa with elegance and softness and brought out a sign of aging without the classic taste of wood.
Anfora is a grappa made from a mixture of marc obtained from autochthonous Trentino vines: 80% Teroldego, Marzemino and Merlot; 20% Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau and Muskateller which give it the typical and unmistakable scents and flavors for this area.
